The Department of Justice has declared full implementation of the 2025 ban on online gambling operators.
The Philippines.- The government has officially declared that all illegal offshore gaming operations in the Philippines have been dismantled. Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida said an enforcement campaign had cleared remaining hubs within a month of the government’s deadline.
“There are no official POGOs left. Definitely, there are no illegal POGOs either,” Vida stated.
The Republic Act 12312, also known as the Anti-POGO Act of 2025, institutionalised the ban imposed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. The law created an oversight committee to seize assets and punish officials who aid online gaming operators. The DOJ says it maintains monitoring to prevent any remnants resurfacing as scam hubs.
In 2019, when industry contributed over PHP104bn (US$1.7bn) to the economy and fuelled a real estate boom. However, concerns emerged over human trafficking, kidnapping, and money laundering.
