H.C. Charles Diao will join The Star from Bally’s Corporation.
Australia.- The Star Entertainment Group has announced the appointment of HC Charles (“Charlie”) Diao as group chief financial officer. Diao will join the company from Bally’s Corporation in the United States, where he currently serves as senior vice president, Finance and Corporate Treasurer.
The appointment, which remains subject to regulatory approvals and the granting of an Australian work visa, comes at a pivotal time as the Star continues to work to strengthen internal governance and long-term performance.
Group CEO & Managing Director, Bruce Mathieson Jnr, said: “Charlie brings deep financial expertise and global experience at a pivotal time for The Star. His leadership will be instrumental as we continue to stabilise the business, strengthen our governance settings, and position the company for long-term performance. We are also pleased to welcome John, David and Tom to their respective roles. Together, these appointments enhance the stability and capability of our senior leadership team and support the ongoing transformation of The Star.”
The company has recently confirmed a series of executive changes aimed at reinforcing operational oversight. John Koster has commenced as chief executive officer of The Star Sydney, while David Whimpey has taken on the role of chief operating officer and interim CEO of The Star Brisbane. Meanwhile, Tom Boyd has been appointed interim Group chief legal officer, further bolstering the company’s corporate governance framework.
