Turkey.-The Ministry of Interior has reported seizing ₺15.8 billion (€324m, $379m) in cash and assets in over 1,120 operations carried out between January 1, 2024, and October 6, 2025. Enforcement action has led to the arrest of thousands of suspects and the dismantling of 109 organised crime groups over the past five years, the ministry claimed.
Between January 1, and October 6, authorities detained 3,394 suspects in 621 raids and jailed 1,313. That compares to 3,397 detentions and 1,088 formal charges from 499 operations in 2024.
In an audit report released in September 2025, the Sports Toto Organization said the legal betting market generated TL 590.9 billion (€12bn) in revenue in 2024. Officials speculate that the industry could have seen greater growth if not for an illegal market estimated to be twice as large.
Interior minister Ali Yerlikaya said: “Illegal betting is a trap and exploitation chain. These dark networks especially lure our youth with promises of easy gains, pushing them into debt, crime and even suicide. Families are broken, financial collapse deepens and mental health deteriorates.
“As a ministry, we address the entire economy of crimes, including money laundering, digital fraud and illegal gambling, in a holistic manner. We continue to carry out a multi-faceted fight against illegal betting and gambling networks, and we will continue to do so.”
