Ras Al Khaimah International Airport infrastructure plans anticipate the opening of the UAE’s first casino.

United Arab Emirates.- The upcoming opening of Wynn Al Marjan Island as the UAE’s first casino is influencing plans for the expansion of Ras Al Khaimah International Airport. Authorities have confirmed that terminal upgrades and the development of a dedicated VVIP terminal are linked to expectations of passenger growth for the Wynn project, scheduled to open in 2027.

The US-based gaming group has previously indicated that the resort could attract up to one million visitors annually, many of whom are expected to travel to Ras Al Khaimah multiple times per year.

Ras Al Khaimah International Airport surpassed one million passengers for the first time in 2025, recording a 51 per cent year-on-year increase. The airport has a target of 1.5 million passengers by 2027, and CEO Manish Seth acknowledged that Wynn Al Marjan Island will be a decisive factor in sustaining growth beyond that.

The airport is currently refurbishing its existing terminal to increase capacity to 1.2 million passengers. Meanwhile, plans are underway to construct a new 30,000-square-metre terminal capable of handling up to 4.5 million passengers, a capacity that far exceeds current volumes and reflects long-term expectations.

In parallel, Ras Al Khaimah International Airport is planning a VVIP terminal that will serve high-roller casino patrons and premium travellers visiting Wynn Al Marjan Island. Developed in partnership with Falcon Executive Aviation, the facility will feature a Royal lounge, four VVIP lounges and premium hospitality areas tailored to discreet, high-profile guests.

The VVIP complex will include a 1,500-square-metre terminal building, an 8,000-square-metre multi-purpose hangar and 9,000 square metres dedicated to apron and aircraft parking. A construction timeline has not been formally announced.
