The Philippines.- DigiPlus Interactive Corp. has responded to reports linking it to a potential multibillion-peso acquisition of Diamond Hotel Philippines. It says no definitive transaction has been agreed upon.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange today, the gaming operator addressed report by InsiderPH yesterday, which claimed it was in talks to acquire the five-star Manila Bay property as part of a planned $1bn integrated resort development. The report said DigiPlus had made a multibillion-peso offer for the property owned by Ramon S. Ang, with discussions said to have progressed to pricing and financing arrangements.
The company said in its filing: “We confirm that DigiPlus is exploring opportunities to expand into adjacent and complementary segments, aligned with its long-term strategy to develop a robust gaming and digital entertainment ecosystem. However, these plans remain under evaluation, and no definitive transactions have been made.”
Diamond Hotel Philippines has nearly 500 rooms and dates back to the early 1990s. DigiPlus has already expressed interest in expanding beyond core online gaming operations with its move to acquire New Coast Hotel Manila.
