Vietnam.- A Kazakh influencer has been arrested in Vietnam on suspicion of promoting illegal online gambling. The individual, identified in some reports as Kaysar Kamza, was detained in the coastal city of Cam Ranh following a request issued by Kazakhstan through Interpol.
According to investigators, the influencer used his social media platforms to promote online casino content and share links to offshore gambling products. Authorities allege that these activities helped recruit users and facilitated participation in unlicensed betting platforms.
Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs claims this generated more than KZT100m (US$210,000) in illicit profits allegedly transferred to a cryptocurrency wallet linked to the suspect.
The Financial Monitoring Agency (FMA), which classes gambling promotion as aiding in the organisation of illegal gambling. If returned to Kazakhstan, the influencer could face a significant prison sentence.
“Every wanted person will be identified, detained, and brought to Kazakhstan. It is only a matter of time,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated.
Kazakh officials have signalled a tougher stance on the role of influencers. In late 2025, the FMA indicated it was considering the introduction of criminal penalties for people who promote online gambling platforms.
