Macau.- The Public Security Police Force (PSP) has reported that 403,000 visitors entered Macau over the three-day Buddha’s Birthday break, which ran from May 23 until yesterday (May 25). That’s an average of more than 134,000 visitors per day, while there were 420,000 outbound travellers over the same period.
Macau’s various border checkpoints recorded nearly 2.18m inbound and outbound movements over the three days. Yesterday (May 25), the city recorded 103,000 inbound visitors and 119,000 outbound, with total movements across all checkpoints reaching 672,000. Most tourists entered Macau via the Border Gate checkpoint, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, and the Hengqin checkpoint.
The Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) has reported that the number of visitor arrivals to Macau increased by 11.3 per cent year-on-year to 3,441,396 in April. Same-day visitors (2,095,953) and overnight visitors (1,345,443) rose by 19.4 per cent and 0.6 per cent, respectively. The average length of stay shortened by 0.1 day to 1 day exactly, while that of overnight visitors (2.3 days) remained unchanged.
