Macau.- There were more than 630,000 inbound visitor arrivals in Macau during the first three days of mainland China’s Labour Day Golden Week holiday. The peak was on May 2, the second day, which set a new single-day record.
According to data from the Public Security Police Force, arrivals between May 1 and May 3 averaged over 210,000 visitors per day. On May 2, inbound visitor arrivals reached approximately 247,000, the highest single-day figure on record. Major entry points including the Border Gate, Hengqin checkpoint and the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge saw high numbers.
On the opening day of the holiday, May 1, Macau registered around 203,000 inbound visitors, a year-on-year increase of more than 14 per cent. Border crossings that day reached 809,000. Arrivals eased to 182,000 on May 3 amid adverse weather conditions.
Macau’s tourism sector started 2026 on a high note with 11.21 million visitors in the first quarter, according to data from the Statistics and Census Service. The figure represents a 13.7 per cent increase compared to the same period last year. March saw 3.39 million arrivals, a 10.6 per cent year-on-year rise.
