Malaysia.- Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has said that the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) received 203,918 public requests to take down online content between January 1 and April 19. Of the total, 91 per cent of requests were related to gambling and scam-related material.
Gambling alone accounted for 61 per cent of all reported content. Authorities said the majority was found on major social media platforms, with 81 per cent identified on Facebook. The data is based on user-generated reports, highlighting the role of public participation in monitoring online content. Each complaint triggers a review process, with requests submitted to platforms for removal where appropriate.
