New Zealand begins online casino licensing process under new regulatory framework
Operators will be able to submit expressions of interest as the country moves towards a regulated market with up to 15 licences.
New Zealand.- The Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) has confirmed that expressions of interest in New Zealand online casino licences will accepted from July 17 until August 14. Only operators that complete this initial stage will be eligible to participate in the subsequent licence auction.
The government plans to issue up to 15 online casino licences for the regulated market ahead of a December 1 launch. Applicants will be required to submit detailed corporate and financial information, including ownership and management structures, proof of funding, certified credit reports and background checks for key executives.
The three-stage licensing process will be conducted through New Zealand’s Government Electronic Tenders platform. Companies already serving New Zealand players without a local licence will need to secure regulatory approval to continue operating legally once the new regime is fully implemented.
