The CICC will assist PAOCC in building criminal cases by conducting digital forensic investigations.
The Philippines.- The creation of a new inter-agency alliance is intended to boost efforts to tackle illegal online gambling in the Philippines. The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Centre (CICC) says it has begun working with the Presidential Anti-Organised Crime Commission (PAOCC), the national gaming regulator Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) and the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group to boost efforts targeting illegal online gambling in the country.
The CICC will assist PAOCC in building criminal cases by conducting digital forensic investigations and gathering evidence against operators. The agency will also lead efforts to block illegal gambling websites and online content identified by regulators and police.
PAOCC executive director Benjamin Acorda said stronger cooperation between agencies was essential to dismantle illegal operations and improve enforcement against cybercrime syndicates.
The initiative comes after authorities recorded 1,891 complaints related to illegal online gambling between January and March 2026. CICC executive director Aboy Paraiso warned that some platforms are deliberately designed to deceive users. “They are really taking people’s money; deceiving our countrymen. And what is more alarming is the business model; it’s addictive,” he said.
