Greyhound Racing NSW will continue fundraising and awareness initiatives.
Australia.- Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) has confirmed the renewal of its collaboration with the Mark Hughes Foundation (MHF) for 2026. The initiative raises funds and awareness for brain cancer research and support.
In the first year, GRNSW and the wider greyhound racing industry raised AU$120,000 (US$78,000) through a series of campaigns, events and donations. That’s on top of an initial AU$20,000 (US$13,000) contribution was made when the collaboration was announced.
Among the key initiative, the Red & Blue All November Through generated more than AU$50,000 (US$32,500) in November 2025. The campaign saw GRNSW donate AU$161 (US$105) each time a greyhound wearing the red number one rug or blue number four rug won a race.
The colours represented the Newcastle Knights rugby league club, while the AU$161 donation amount referenced the number of NRL matches played by former player and MHF founder Mark Hughes.
Funds were also raised through Calcutta and sports luncheons, sales during the Beanies for Brain Cancer initiative, club and participant donations, and the auction of the winning post from the final race meeting at Dapto Greyhound Club.
The Red & Blue All November Through will return later this year while the 2026 MHF beanies collection, which will go on sale on May 27.
“We’re incredibly proud to have Greyhound Racing NSW continuing their support of the Mark Hughes Foundation throughout 2026 for a second consecutive year,” Hughes said. “After the enormous success of last year’s campaign, which raised an incredible AU$120,000 (US$78,000), it means so much to have the industry once again standing beside us in the fight against brain cancer.”
