Indonesia.- Agus Andrianto, Indonesia’s Minister of Immigration and Corrections, has said that authorities are expanding oversight of locations that could potentially be used for illegal online gambling activities. The move follows a police operation in which 321 foreign nationals were arrested in West Jakarta.
“I have instructed the Director General to increase surveillance at all locations that could potentially be used to host similar activities,” the minister said.
The Ministry of Immigration and Corrections said it will work more closely with the Indonesian National Police to identify and monitor suspicious gambling-related activities. Authorities are expected to also focus on possible visa and residency permit abuses linked to illegal gambling. Officials believe stronger immigration monitoring could help detect operators attempting to relocate from other Southeast Asian countries that have stepped up enforcement actions.
