South Korea.- Korea Sports Promotion Foundation‘s Sports Lottery and Sports Racing Division and Gwangmyeong Police Station have conducted a gambling education programme for all 880 students at Gwangmyeong High School. The initiative focused on the dangers of illegal gambling among minors, which has become a social concern in South Korea.
Professional counsellors explained the different forms of illegal gambling, real-life cases, addiction risks and available prevention methods. Students also used the Campaign for Adolescent Gambling Intervention (CAGI) screening tool to evaluate their own level of risk, while receiving information on reporting channels, counselling services and treatment support systems.
Organisers highlighted the importance of cooperation between schools, law enforcement agencies and public institutions to strengthen prevention efforts. A public awareness campaign was also held for Youth Month in Gwangmyeong, with events across several locations, including the Gwangmyeong City Youth Centre, attracting around 4,000 participants.
