Thailand.- The Royal Thai Police have held meetings with executives from LINE Thailand in a bid to strengthen cooperation against criminal activity on the messaging platform, including illegal gambling, fraud and the sale of illicit goods. According to police, criminal networks have been using LINE’s open chat features to promote illegal gambling websites, organise gambling-related scams and facilitate money laundering operations.
Police said the two sides are developing a faster system to process data-blocking requests and close suspicious accounts, with the upgraded enforcement framework expected to be operational by mid-2026. LINE Thailand chiefs said they would “fully cooperate” and leverage support from parent company LY Corporation in Japan.
The move comes as Thai authorities continue enforcement actions against illegal online casino operators. In a recent raid, police dismantled an Thai-language online casino platform known as AM 08, which allegedly served around 36,000 users and offered products including slots, baccarat, sports betting and illegal lottery games.
