Australia.- The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has issued a warning to Harris Bookmaking Pty Ltd, trading as Chasebet, after failing to adequately promote the BetStop national self-exclusion register. An ACMA investigation found breaches of the rules in three marketing emails or on its website.
Under gambling self-exclusion rules, wagering providers must promote and provide links to BetStop in all promotional electronic messages and websites. After the ACMA alerted Chasebet, the company promptly rectified the issue, which it said occurred as a result of a software consolidation error.
ACMA warned that it may carry out further enforcement action if the company breaches the rules again. Earlier this week, it requested that online service providers (ISPs) block 19 more unlicensed online gambling sites found to be operating in breach of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.
