The Philippine operator plans cost cuts as weak VIP demand weighs on land-based operations.
The Philippines.- Bloomberry Resorts Corp expects another difficult year for its land-based business in 2026, citing continued weakness in VIP demand in Metro Manila. Chairman Enrique Razon Jr. said soft visitation from high-value tourists continues to be a challenge for Solaire Resort & Casino and Solaire Resort North.
Bloomberry will focus on cost-cutting and stricter capital expenditure. The outlook follows a net loss of around PHP2.6bn (US$43m) in 2025, impacted by weaker VIP play, lower tourism and rising costs.
At the same time, Bloomberry is relaunching its online platform under the FUNaloMAX brand. The product is currently in soft launch after resolving earlier technical issues, with stronger marketing efforts planned once stability is confirmed.
The company expects the revamped platform to support mass-market growth and potentially turn profitable next year amid a broader industry shift where online and electronic gaming already account for over 50 per cent of total gross gaming revenue in the Philippines.
