India.- The government of Goa has approved operator Delta Corp to replace an existing floating casino venue with a larger and more modern floatel. Approval of the new 112-metre offshore casino vessel on the Mandovi River was cleared by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant following an administrative review.
The new vessel, operated through Delta Corp’s subsidiary Delta Pleasure Cruises, will replace the current MV Royale. The upgrade is intended to improve onboard facilities.
During the review process, the Captain of Ports raised concerns related to navigation on the Mandovi River, warning that the addition of a vessel of this size could contribute to congestion, particularly in areas where multiple ships operate in proximity. However, reports indicate that the Chief Minister had no objection to moving forward with the proposal.
Current regulations in Goa previously set a 90-metre guideline for vessels operating in local waters, although shipyards in the state are permitted to build larger vessels for use outside the region.
