The 2026 Queensland Winter Carnival attracted its largest crowds in more than five years.
Australia.- The 2026 Queensland Winter Carnival has set a new benchmark for wagering, with bets across the 11 feature meetings totalling a record A$411.8m (US$285m). The result represents an increase of more than 11 per cent on the previous high set in 2023.
Officials said the carnival would still have set a new wagering record even without an additional meeting in the form of the Magic Millions National Classic Evening at the Gold Coast Turf Club. For the first time, Three individual races each surpassed A$10m (US.9m) in domestic turnover.
The strong wagering figures were matched by increased public attendance. With more than 60,000 spectators, numbers rose 8.6 per cent year-on-year to the highest figure in five years. Racing Queensland said the results reflect the event’s growing national profile and continued interest from both bettors and racegoers.
