The move will create what SJM describes as the largest integrated resort hotel on the Macau Peninsula.
Macau.- SJM Holdings is advancing with a major renovation and integration project that will combine Hotel Lisboa and Grand Lisboa into a single integrated resort complex by 2027. As cited by Macao Daily News, Daisy Ho, chairman and executive director of SJM Holdings and managing director of SJM Resorts, said the move is intended to align the venues more closely with customer preferences and market demand.
Ho reportedly made the comments at a dragon boat launch event. At Hotel Lisboa, an initial phase of renovations includes upgrades to hotel rooms, gaming areas and food and beverage facilities. This is expected to be completed this summer. A second phase will follow.
The redesign will change the hotel’s room configuration, combining smaller rooms to form larger units and adding new suite formats. As a result, the number of rooms will decrease slightly, but the average room size will increase.
Meanwhile, Grand Lisboa is undergoing internal renovation works. Former VIP gaming areas are being converted into hotel rooms to increase room inventory by around 10 per cent. The property will also add new dining areas on the third and fifth floors focused on mass-market customers, while more retail space will be added on the ground floor. The hotel’s lobby and check-in area will be relocated to the seventh floor.
As part of the integration project, the tunnel connecting the two properties is being renovated. This is expected to be completed next year.
