Prosecutors have targeted 135 suspects across 33 provinces.
Turkey.- Prosecutors have reportedly issued detention warrants for 135 people as part of an operation against alleged illegal gambling. Cybercrime police units worked alongside the country’s Tax Inspection Board in an investigation into a network allegedly linked to transactions totalling TRY8.7bn (US$191m), with more than US$26m allegedly routed through eight companies.
The suspects face accusations including establishing a criminal organisation, operating illegal betting schemes, fraud, and laundering the proceeds of crime. The operation follows one earlier this month, in which 127 suspects were arrested for cybercrime and fraud offences.
