The Australian operator has permanently excluded eight bettors citing risk management.
Australia.- Tabcorp has permanently banned a group of up to eight high-stakes bettors from all of its services. The group was notified that they are no longer allowed to place wagers with the company online or at retail venues. In letters sent to those affected, Tabcorp said the decision was made “in good faith” and in line with its regulatory and compliance obligations.
“This decision has been made for the purpose of managing and mitigating risk,” the company stated, warning that any attempt to bypass the ban could lead to legal consequences.
Among those impacted is professional gambler Steve Fletcher, a well-known figure in the racing sector. He was informed that his custom was “outside of Tabcorp’s risk appetite.” Fletcher’s legal representatives have asked the operator to clarify what specific risks or issues led to the decision.
